Diomande, Real Madrid ‘agree terms’ for transfer of Leipzig winger

Real Madrid has secured a transfer agreement with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after the player's impressive showing at the FIFA World Cup 2026, where he made his international debut for Ivory Coast. The West African nation reached the round of 32 in the tournament, with Diomande emerging as a standout performer.

The 19-year-old right-winger has made a significant impact in European football since joining Leipzig from Spanish club Leganes less than a year ago. Standing 1.8 metres tall, Diomande is recognised for his pace, dribbling ability, and athleticism, making him a consistent goal-scoring threat from the wing position.

During the 2025-26 Bundesliga season, Diomande contributed 12 goals and eight assists as Leipzig finished third in the standings, securing their place in the UEFA Champions League for the following season. His performances earned him recognition as the Bundesliga's best young player of the season.

Both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain had previously pursued the winger, but their offers were rejected. PSG's final bid was reported at approximately 102.5 million pounds. Madrid's contract offer is structured similarly to England midfielder Jude Bellingham's deal, with performance-based incentives that increase year-on-year.
